If you want to understand me, you have to know I grew up on a farm in Missouri as the youngest of seven children. My mother prayed for years that I would be a pastor--and here I am! I taught high school math for three years before going to seminary. I spent my first 25 years of ministry in St. Johns, MI and love now being here in Monroe. God has blessed me with a wonderful wife, Nancy, three children and He has compounded those blessings with three awe inspiring grandchildren. I want you to experience what God has given me--life without fear knowing the depth of His love.
I grew up in Washington, Missouri, a smaller town about an hour outside of St. Louis. My parents, Greg, an OB/GYN, and Cindy, a special education teacher, raised my three sisters and me, along with any number of dogs, cats, hamsters, and goldfish. I grew up enjoying the small town life, especially as I reached high school and got to experience playing football under the lights with the whole town paying attention. During high school I was also involved in community service projects and activities, which have remained an important element to my life today. I also spent 2.5 years studying crafts, so I do have some wicked skills in that arena. Once I went to college, I became interested in serving at a summer camp as a summer job. I would eventually serve as a counselor and then assistant program director of Concordia Arrowhead Lutheran Camp in Southern California. It was there that I met my wife Katie. It was also while there that I felt God pushing/dragging/driving me towards church work. So, I transferred to Concordia University in Irvine California where I graduated with a degree in Theological Studies in 2009. Katie and I married a week after graduation. We then moved to Idaho for awhile while Katie finished her degree. I started at the seminary in the summer of 2010. While in St. Louis, we had our first daughter, Lucy. She was born in March of my first year. We soon went on vicarage to Winter Haven, Fl where we had our second daughter, Shelby, who was also born in March. We then returned to St. Louis to finish up school. Katie, Lucy, Shelby, and I now live in Monroe, enjoying the beautiful weather, the historical sites, and all of the playgrounds.
